Re: Danang & Hoi An

If the hotel replies to say okay, then should be no problem. What they do is "register" two rooms, one under your name and the other under your gf's name to satisfy the authorities if they check. But upon check in, they will need both your passport and your gal's ID/passport. Ask yr gal dun forget to bring her ID.

Is there any issue if you check in together with a Vietnamese for 4 star hotel in Hoi An booking only one room? I sample and email 2 of the higher guest rating 4 star hotel and the reply is ok if you check in together. But I just do not want to be caught off guard. Skali reach there they say cannot or ask you for marriage certificate I jialak and lan lan liao. So better ask for bro who ever had such experience here in Hoi An.

HoiAn,

Your nick = the place I am visiting. You win liao and up you too.

That's what I am thinking too if they say ok it should be ok. However it will be great and affirmative if any bro who had successfully check in without a marriage certificate in a 4 star and above hotel can shed a light since by law or by right it is not allowed. Of course many things go by left too, some even centre.

Even in HCMC I know of 4 star hotel that goes by left too because I had stayed there before.

Da Nang cops propose late-night booze ban

http://www.thanhniennews.com/society...ban-65150.html

The Da Nang police have recommended a ban on the sale of beer and liquor after 10 p.m. exactly at the same time the Hanoi administration is set to lift a midnight curfew on partying to promote tourism.

Colonel Le Ngoc, the Da Nang traffic police chief, said the police department would submit the proposal to the People’s Committee soon.

If accepted, restaurants and eateries will be prohibited from selling alcohol after 10 p.m.

The police would also recommend penalties for violators, Tuoi Tre quoted Ngoc as saying. However, he did not elaborate.

In a move to reduce traffic accidents, in February Da Nang began to teach road etiquette to people applying for a motorbike driving license.

Ngoc said: “[They] will be shown images of traffic accidents. We hope they will become responsible drivers.”

Da Nang recorded 59 accidents in the first half of this year in which 43 people were killed and 38 injured, a slight decrease year-on-year.

Elsewhere, Do Dinh Hong, director of the Hanoi Department of Tourism, said lifting the midnight ban on restaurants, bars and nightclubs would be an effective and practical move since tourists would stay longer and spend more.

A late night liquor ban has been proposed several times in Ho Chi Minh City since 2013-2014 but has never been implemented due to controversies.

However, traffic police have announced plans to set up more checkpoints near restaurants and nightclubs in the city as well as in Hanoi, Da Nang and Can Tho to handle drunk drivers.

The campaign will last for a month from August 16 in a move that also aims to maintain security during Revolution Day (August 19) and Independence Day (September 2).

Hoi An to issue tourist code of conduct

TUOI TRE NEWS
UPDATED : 10/12/2016 14:06 GMT + 7

The administration of Hoi An, the popular tourist city in the central province of Quang Nam, is preparing a code of conduct for tourists, having previously issued a set of rules and recommendations to residents and vendors inside the famous ancient town.

The code of conduct for residents and business owners in Hoi An Ancient Town, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1999, has been promulgated via a leaflet distributed to local residents and vendors earlier this year.

The document consists of a list of do’s and don’ts as well as various prohibitions for vendors and service providers. All are aimed at preserving the valuable architecture and culture of a busy regional trading port that dates back to the 15th century.

For example, vendors inside the ancient town are advised to use environmentally friendly and traditional materials to decorate their place of business and to behave in a friendly and polite manner toward customers and tourists.

Service providers should not occupy pavements or even the streets to display their goods, or use overly bright signs.

As for the prohibitions, the city’s administration has banned all begging and dishonest business activities inside the ancient town.

Hoi An authorities are also preparing a similar code of conduct for foreigners, at a time when some international visitors have behaved inappropriately at the World Heritage site.

“Many tourists wear skimpy clothes when walking around the ancient town or even while visiting temples and pagodas,” Hoi An chairman Nguyen Van Dung told the local Quang Nam newspaper.

Dung said such visitors will be reminded of the proper dress code at these attractions, as “Hoi An has to protect its culture rather than trade it purely for economic growth.”

Quang Nam has reported an average growth in tourism numbers of 12 percent annually since 2000, according to Quang Nam newspaper.

The central province welcomed 3.85 million visitors in 2015, and 3.3 million in the Jan-Sep period this year. Tourist arrivals in the nine month period rose 11 percent on a year earlier, adding some VND2.3 trillion ($102.68 million) into the province’s budget, according to the newspaper.

The Hoi An administration is one step ahead of their superiors in provincial administration, as an official code of conduct for tourists at the province-level remains on paper only.

“We have to wait for an amendment to the law on tourism to be released,” Dinh Hai, director of the provincial tourism department, said.

Any regulations or sanctions to be established in the code of conduct must be in line with those of tourism law, which is being amended, he explained.

“My stance is that we should not be hasty, but rather wait until the National Assembly approves the amended tourism law,” he said.

Banyan Tree? It's quite a remote area. Nothing much there.

Good for u. Around Danang are 3 Unesco world heritage sites, Hoi An, My Son and Hue. Take some time to explore the historical sites.
