usual places to hang out for a quiet drink. 三里屯酒吧一条街，后海，鼓楼大街。Personally, I rather like the bars off the main st of sanli tun. take a walk through soho sanlitun and then there is a alley that has restaurants and pubs. its better there. there is one joint that sells seafood noodles. Generous amount of squid, prawns, yabbies (小龙虾） and clams for 60RMB if i am not wrong. joint's name is 钓鱼岛or something linked to the diaoyudao issue. after makaning there, take a stroll down the alley and there a a few pubs there to have a drink. Houhai drinks are quite expensive. A tower of heineiken beer cost me 135SGD! Maybe I was preety wasted by the time I got there so the management took the opportunity to chop me. be warned, not easy to get a cab back from Houhai in the wee hours of the morning. So samsters may have to resort to taking their 黑车(unlincensed taxis) back to hotel or accomodation. Be careful when taking this taxis, overcharging is a norm! and it has been known that some victims even get robbed of their belongings. Locals try to avoid those taixs too.

Not been to Gulou yet. but it seems to be another happening place.
