Glad you highlighted Kamala – an area deserving of being written about as it is, to a certain extent, unique in the Phuket mongering scene.

Millionaire’s Row with its US$1 million plus homes, starts from the South of the beach/Andara/Cape Sienna resort and winds through to just about Patong where it dead-ends - I suspect to make it NOT accessible from this less salubrious area of Phuket; over the hill to the North are BangTao/Surin Beach/the Laguna Estates where a large majority of the better-off expatriates have their luxury homes and apartments, and the luxurious resorts/hotels like the Laguna Dusit Thani and the uber-deluxe Amanpuri.

Adjacent to such luxurious homes/resorts, Kamala has this “captive client base” of the straying visiting/expatriate resident family man in need of a convenient and quick fix. And whilst the bars and MP’s are tamer/more discrete versus other parts of Phuket, a lot of “quality” is to be had here, and NOT at that much of a premium. Mongering at a more sedate and “dignified” pace. LOL

A few of these bars and MP’s are along #4025, the main Kamala road connecting Bang Tao and Patong, as well as the loop going down to the beach. By the way, Silk's restaurant, which is one of the best (Read - VERY expensive) in Phuket, is at Andara resort - the place to go to, to impress.

If I may suggest….

Friends and I usually do NOT have much problems with getting girls to go back to Bang Tao/Laguna area – which is just about twice as far as Kamala - when we negotiate with telling them up-front that we expect them to follow us to where we stay at, and that the negotiated fees includes THB 500 taxi fee back to Bangla.

IMHO, those who refuse are those more hardened WG’s who always want to maximize their working hours whilst the ones who agree are more likely to be less mercenary and actually enjoy being taken to a nice place outside from Bangla.
