i like Traders myself...girl friendly, safe, good service and the gm is a singgie...also for those looking for cheap laundry service there is one next door, no need to use the hotel laundry service which is much more expensive...also loads of cheap restaurants nearby, including one chinese one next to harrison mall which serves great dim sum and yang chow fried rice...another hotel that i like is Pan Pac which is close to LA Cafe...
oh and as for pick up joints, apart fm what u mentioned i suggest checking out Ms Universe (more expensive to tao pao but some real solid young beauties - mestiza and chiniza) and the strip shows are a good laugh and relaxation...the other interesting but expensive joints are in Quezon City like Classmate and Pegasus...also with beautiful mestiza and chiniza syts...
transport wise...i suggest never taking anything but licensed meter taxis or hotel/company arranged transport...jeepneys and FXs can be dangerous...

For stays, I find Heritage is a good choice. Traders is also quite value for money. Both should be ard 100 per SGD per night. Asiarooms.com should offer quite good prices.
